Summer carriage in the Armoury

Summer carriage in the Armoury

This photo I took in the State THE ARMOURY Museum-Preserve of History and Culture (Armory Chambers) which located in the Moscow Kremlin.
The Summer carriage in the form of an Italian gondola was made in England in the 1770s. It was a present to Empress Catherine the Great from Count Orlov. The carriage is adorned with magnificent woodcarving of laurel and oak leaves, flower garlands, banner and trophies and covered with a thin layer of gold. It gives the impression of being carved metal. This carriage is artistically one of the finest in the world.

I was in Moscow for two weeks on business. During this time I employed Arthur on a daily basis to take me to my numerous meetings around the city during the day as well as in the evening when I visited restaurants and bars. His knowledge of the city is excellent and he was able to find every address on time. He was always punctual and I found him pleasant and honest.

Using Arthur is much cheaper than using regular Moscow taxis which are very expensive and unreliable - on my previous trips to Moscow I used regular taxis and when I compared my expenses I found that using Arthur on a daily rate worked out cheaper than taking taxis. He is also a fun companion if you are travelling on your own. Highly recommended
