Blue and Golden Domes

Blue and Golden Domes

The beautiful Blue and Golden Domes of the main church, Assumption Cathedral, in the Trinity Monastery of St. Sergius looks very impressive. This Cathedral was built at the end of 16th century (1559-1585) by the order of Ivan Terrible. The church follows the forms of the Assumption Cathedral of Moscow Kremlin which was a symbol of the state power.

Nowadays the monastery (Trinity Monastery of St. Sergius ) carries the name of Lavra that translating from Greece means "main and most important monastery". There are four lavras in Russia, but the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius (full name) is considered to be "Russian Vatican" and besides our patriarch's temporary residence is situated there.

Recently, I invited my mother and my mother-in-law (both 80 years old) to visit me in Moscow. I was wondering how I could show them the city as they both would not be able to walk more than 100 m. But then I met Arthur and suddenly solutions for everything were in place - a car, wheel chairs, nice tours and - most importantly - a guy with a big heart! My mothers were so happy and I have no words to express my gratitude to Arthur for all his patience and kindness with these old ladies. Thank you, Arthur! The world is nicer with people like you!
