The Old Style Medieval Belfry
On my previous picture I showed you the old Transfiguration church (which located on the background here) and told in my notes that it was not possible for me to take a good shot of the church and bell-tower together. Here you can see this bell tower, actually more correctly to call it "medieval belfry", by its style, and the original name for it on Russian language is "Zvonnitsa".
Preparing a new picture about the tour to Zvenigorod city, I thought that it could be very interesting for you to see this photo, because of only a few medieval belfries are still extant in Russia. Also, in spite of the fact that the buildings appear with perspective distortion here, I think, that in this composition the old style bell-tower looks pretty interesting and impressive.
As like the Transfiguration church, the "Zvonnitsa" is divided into three vertical sections with two horizontal tires in which there are three arched openings for the bells. In 1993 after a lapse of 60 years, bells once more hung in their proper place.

How lucky we were to find Arthur's website! We just adopted two beautiful Russian children in November of 2003. I really don't know how we would have made it in Moscow without Arthur. It was like having a friend guide you. He brought us to the Filatov Clinic and secured us an examination for the children--even though we were late and had no appointment. He placed us in the right line outside the American Embassy and escorted us to McDonalds with the children while we were waiting for our final appointment. I was sick and he took me to the pharmacy for some antibiotics. We were concerned about spending too much eating out so he pushed the cart for us at a huge and wonderful Russian supermarket. And to top it off, he gave us a traffic-free early morning last minute run through Moscow that was breathtaking. Moreover, Arthur is a safe and intelligent driver--a unique characteristic, you will see, for a Russian motorist. And all this at very reasonable rates.
It was very important for us too to feel comfortable with the person we would be spending hours with and intrusting the details of such an important part of our lives--and I guess we lucked out. Arthur is a very charming guy--a cross between Robert Redford and Michael J. Fox, in a Russian style. And best of all, he is good with children.
Feel free to e-mail us with any questions you might have about he services.
