Fire opposite Moscow Kremlin

Fire opposite Moscow Kremlin

On 17th of August 2007, when I was walking across the Bolshoi Kamenny Most (Big Stone Bridge) to meet my clients near the Armory Museum, I was able to watch a fire in one of the buildings opposite the Kremlin Cathedrals. The other side of the Moscow River, where the fire was burning, was cordoned off by police and surrounded by many fire trucks. Even one boat was called to resist and stop the fire in the old house which is currently under reconstruction.

The total area of the fire in the small 3 floor building, which is located at Sofiiskaya Embankment, 8, came to more than 250 square meters. The fire destroyed completely all wooden construction on two upper floors of the old building. Seven fire brigades and one boat were involved in the operation to stop the fire.

Now officials from fire prevention inspection are determining the cause of the fire and investigating the company which was reconstructing the house.

I recently returned from doing an independent adoption in Russia. While in Moscow, I chose to use the services of Arthur Loukianov. I would highly recommend anyone needing services in Moscow to contact Arthur. As a single mom traveling alone the courtesy alone that Arthur showed was very appreciated. My flight did not arrive in Moscow until very late, Arthur was waiting. Arthur was in the lobby waiting for us the next morning and had already spoken with the Embassy doctors so they were expecting us. After the doctors appointment, we drove over to the Embassy to file the papers. Arthur again took us back for our visa interview. The next morning, I had to be at the airport around 5am, once again Arthur was waiting in the lobby for us. Arthur is very polite, very helpful and very talkative. He knows alot about Moscow, is a good driver and genuinely seems to want to help with anything you may need. I was short on time but he managed to squeeze in a short tour of the Kremlin, Red Square and a few other attractions. His fees are very reasonable and I feel he is also very dependable.

Please feel free to email me with any questions!
