Former KGB building

Former KGB building

No visit to Moscow would be complete without a quick visit to what was, for much of the 20th century, the most notorious building in the world. The bland, bulky sandstone building was originally built as the headquarters of an insurance company in 1897. However, after the revolution it became the headquarters of the KGB, and the epicentre of that nefarious organisation's reign of terror over the city during Stalin's time. There are headquarters of FSB (Federal Secure Service) inside this building nowadays.

This was my first trip to Moscow,I hired Aurthur's services via internet and it was the best decision I could have made. Authur was able to relocate me to a more suitable hotel, after my "knowledgeable" travel agent booked me into totally inapropriate surrounds. Authur's extensive knowledge of the city and it's history made my stay even more memorable, as I was interested in seeing all the sights, not just the ones in the brochures.I was picked up from my hotel on time every time, and was not only shown the sights, but was taken to some very interesting and enjoyable restuarants and night spots, something that only some one who is local would know.More importantly, as I was travelling alone, Arthur's conversation and presence made me feel more at ease, as he was able to translate on my behalf in all manner of social and non-social interactions. I would certanly recommend that any one thinking of travelling to Moscow should contact Arthur before travelling, so he can point them in the right direction as to where to stay etc... I had such a good time that I now count Arthur as one of my friends.
