Main church of Suzdal Kremlin
The cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin is located in Suzdal Kremlin and it is one of the most impressive churches in this amazing fairy-tale town.
It is the unique monument of Old Russian architecture built in 1225.
The lower section of the the church made of porous tufa and carved white stone has survived from the original building.
The upper part was rebuilt in brick in 1530.
In 1750 the cathedral was given onion-shaped domes.
The beauty of the interior is inhanced by the frescoes of the 13-17 centuries, "the golden doors" of the 13th century, the iconostasis and church utensils of the 17th century.
The cathedral was inscribed on the World Heritage list of UNESCO.
