Obama & Medvedev Nesting Dolls
Obama will visit Moscow on July 6-8 to meet with President Medvedev and Prime Minister Putin. So now if you walk through the Red Square and Kremlin areas or any tourist attractions or crafts markets Vernisazh in Izmailovo you can see the ubiquitous nesting doll with Obama on them and also the American flag! These nesting dolls called Matreshka are one of the national souvenirs of Russia and are hand made from wood and hand painted (cheap ones have photo copies on it).
PS: This picture was taken in an open area market near a stand with many Matreskas dolls, so because of sunlight it was quite hard to avoid a glare over heads of the presidents caused by reflection from laquered surfaces of nestling dolls.

Hi Arthur, we made it safely to Riga and we are now just on the ferry to Stockholm. Riga is beautiful. With my blackberry I have email so it's great.
I wanted to thank you for such a wonderful trip to Moscow. What an incredible experience. I could not imagine Moscow without you! It was so much more fulfilling. Russian has always fascinated. We hear about your country so much in the news that it was important for me to experience it first hand.
I think in many ways North America and Russia are alike. We have very different histories, but in many ways we live the same in these times of rapid communication, TV and the internet. It is striking that without those tools cultures evolved so differently but with them we have many similarities!
Stay in touch. If you ever come to Canada you have to visit the capital city of Ottawa and I will happily be your guide!
