GUM is a short for a State Department Store. Actually built as a store in 1893 this building was called Upper Trade Rows. It was the biggest store in Russia before the revolution, and the most popular after. The inside of the GUM looks wonderful with the typical glass-roof and the many columns and ornaments.

We had a fantastic time getting around Moscow with Arthur - he sure did know the roads/back streets etc. Highly recommend Arthur to anyone. Would definitely use his services again in Moscow. Did I mention - he also knew where all the shops are!!!
